Any recommendations for finding support groups or making sober friends?

Meetings, meetings, meetings!

I personally enjoy young people & women’s meetings! It’s a lot more personal in my experience. AA conventions/events are always a great place to. It’s hard finding people committed to recovery who you click with, but they’re out there. Added you!

Yes, that’s exactly what I’m looking for! Seems hard to find but maybe I’m not looking in the right places. Thanks for the add!

Besides AA or Celebrate Recovery, try to find groups that do healthy and positive things like hiking, walking, working out, kayaking, ect., whatever your non-drinking hobbies and interests are, whether in Meetup or not, and join in the group I’m in a lot of several such groups and am actually leading such a group hike this Sunday. Some may want to go for a drink after, and if so, I politely say no thanks and wish them well. I’ve met many new friends that way and has a great time doing sober activities. Beyond the sober activity, you can choose who you want to socialize with without causing waves.

What worked for me is getting into other, non-drinking/using activities, and meeting a new nucleus of friends that way.

Find AA meetings close to you. Also look at celebrate recovery meetings as well. Might look for sober groups in your area on Facebook too.

Find a sponsor who has something you want.

Find of people who can help you connect in the meetings and outside the meetings.

Find some strong women with a strong foundation of support and spirituality. (Obviously opposite for males )

I’ve thought about doing that! I think I’ll take your advice, thanks!

Thank you! Can you message me the names of your groups?

Meet people at different meetings and put yourself out there. That's my best suggestion I have a group chat now with 19 guys. It started at 5. But be careful what you wish for they be sending good morning messages at 5 am :rofl:
