I couldn’t stay sober until I figured out that I couldn’t figure it out. Then I could accept help, because I knew it was the only way.
Congratulations
So happy for you
I do live in MN
Where are you?
It’s a mind warp. I’ll say I’m not going to but sometimes knowing you’ve gone and drank gives you a perpetual excuse to drink. I’m full of ambivalence even after two pancreatitis spells and gallbladder surgery. I cut back to 2 beers but I still get the urge to over indulge. But reaching out is awesome. Find a woman who your accountable to and good luck.
Congrats
Keep coming back no matter how many times you fall get back up
Sobriety is not a straight line (no pun intended) I went to treatment three times before I figured out WHY I drank. It’s not about learning how to stop. It’s about why we turn to alcohol. Don’t give up. You haven’t failed at sobriety until you’ve given up entirely.
Good for you! One day at a time . Man I’ve been relapsing constantly these past few months and then I try my best to get back on it and I do…like for a month. Then relapse… then back again 2 weeks and then I find the stuff I’m using by accident and back at it again. Its like I’ve been relapsing ever since and I’ve forgotten to make it a priority again like I used to. Or something in my head …lies perhaps or excuses as usual tell me to pick up again. Thanks for your post cause I need to get back at it again and do my best to stay sober. I recently discovered these rooms and posts and thank God I did because it helps a lot! Wish me luck and I hope to get sober again soon as possible too! Thanks.
I'm right there with you.
Welcome back
Hey Abigail how you doing?
Just because you relapsed doesn’t mean you always are back at day 1… That time you spent sober and working on yourself everyday COUNTS! I honestly don’t like the number (that’s just me). There are people with 20+ years who relapse and just because it was a weak moment doesn’t mean all that work was FOR NOTHING. All that matters is that you get back up and keep fighting babe. I’ve learned that people can have many years of sobriety but still live unfulfilling lives… Or… you can have someone with less time and live a great one… it’s all about how you look at it and keep progressing. Don’t let this discourage you. KEEP FIGHTING GIRL
Sarah, I appreciate your comments so much. I would love to keep in touch with you. These days are rolling by slowly and I think these first 2 weeks are going to be a mind f*ck and physically brutal.
