Everyone can make their own choices, in a previous stint of sobriety, relapsed twice by masking my addictive behavior with non alcohol beer. My sobriety is life or death, so I don’t mess with anything that simulates my killer
Ok but you said "us in recovery "
Yes I did and will stand behind that statement, it may be my opinion but when we have recovered from the insanity of craving alcohol, I don’t see how one can say they have recovered if one seeks out the flavor or social comfort of a drink that is made to replicate an alcoholic beverage. Recovery to me is absolute removal from the alcohol way of life, the feeling that I’m only normal with a beer in my hand and any behavior of alcoholism.
So what's the difference in drinking a root beer in that setting, you are still seeking social comfort. Look, once more just because you don't want to or can't doesn't mean everyone will fall victim to relapse through it like you. I have had many na drinks and not once felt tempted to have an alcoholic drink. It's free will and how we choose to use it. You chose to relapse. The na drink didn't choose for you, you chose to. Anytime I relapsed its because I chose to. Not this or that or whatever. Anyway, opinions are like buttholes. We got one
I myself stay away from na beer. My ex got me some non alcoholic IPA’s once because I used to love IPA’s. But it just made me want the effect once it hit my lips. I’ve tried it all. Drinking energy drinks for the effect. And it always boiled down to one fact. That I really wanted to drink.
I was told even non-alcoholic drinks have alcohol in it. Be careful.
Actual 0.0% one. But many do still have some like odouls.
I had asked my addiction counselor if it would help if when I went out I had soda like in a martini glass or wine glass. His reply was that it could definitely be a trigger. Being in recovery is brutal but happy to be here for sure.
No way Jose
I spent a Fourth of July weekend with family. When I opened the refrigerator there were so many drinks! I thought there’s no way I’m going to be able to stay away. With some support, hoplark and 3 na beers I did it! I love Hoplark. It’s been a great drink for me. Thanks all for the tips and concerns of NA beer.
