I'm a devout atheist but I think it's healthy to have some form of codified framework as to how you go through life so if someone asks you you can say " I'm a "that"." So people can conjure in there mind some kind of perception of what you stand for. I attend a lot of Buddhist recovery meetings via zoom. The general philosophy of Buddhism matches my pre-existing beliefs nicely. And it dosen't involve pleasing an all knowing all powerful voyeuristic extraterrestrial.
You can just do you, like that wise fellow said earlier.
You believe in what is right for you.
You will have ardent AA followers who say, You don't have to believe in God in the Sky, though I have found that to not be true, in my experience. Like Joshua, I'm finding peace in Buddhism.
That said, your sobriety is yours. Try everything. There's SMART if you want a more therapy-driven approach.
All the best.
You don't have to, but God doesn't disappoint or let you down. However, people do. All the best.
I have difficulty with “God” let’s you down. I watched my best friend who was only 43 die in horrific pain. She had pancreatic cancer. 2 young sons. I watched my dad die wanting to be taken off life support. “God” does disappoint if there is one. I certainly don’t want to offend you but you have blind faith and I’m glad you have it
God is there to help you through the suffering he is not the cause of it
Read the book the shack.
Amen
Hi Cynthia,
No worries. What works for one may not work for another. I don't understand letting loved ones die either. Both my parents are gone, so I understand.
All the best to you.
What do you believe in Cynthia? Will "that" keep you sober.
