Working hard everyday. Constantly
Seriously me too! Shopping addiction. Bc I kept justifying that I was saving money by not drinking. Now I'm trying to get my sh*t in gear to pay down credit cards
For me, I was probably spending at least $50 on alcohol each week, but the bigger problem was I'd do drunk shopping or order out, because I was too hungover to make food so I ended up in huge credit card debt. When I get sober, one of the first things I did was do a debt transfer from a credit card to a credit union with a much lower interest rate. Because of that, I was able to pay back my debt in about 8 months and now I'm actually saving money.
That’s one of the best things — not spending $20 on a bottle of wine one night, then $30 on beer the next and then.. etc it added up!!! Love putting that money towards things that are actually healthy for me — getting my nails done, massage
Over the last year my credit got worse and I actually fell into more debt in sobriety. Over time, I learned I was using shopping as a replacement. When you’re sober you have to face reality and address old patterns so I’ve been actively budgeting and being honest with myself and others about my financial situation and it’s helped. I setup an automatic withdrawal on a high interest savings account with ally bank and my best friend convinced me to start contributing to a 401k and emergency fund. Little steps make a big difference! You’ll get there
Mine didn't take long;. I use the 80/10/10 method and it works well.
Same!
With everything being so expensive I’m glad I stopped drinking and using because no I don’t have extra money laying but yes I can afford the things I need
The great thing about not drinking is never wanting to buy cocaine that I can't afford! Finally pulled myself out of the deep red I was in and its wild to start thinking about things to save for, improving my quality of life and investing!
LOL I definitely can relate
For me I was financially stable around 6months, I could afford rent, food, and payments on a vehicle. I cried when I went to the store to buy some video games and a nice t shirt, because for ten years my addiction never gave me the privilege to buy something for myself, other than drugs. Keep it up brother!
