It's cool, I get it. I think a lot of believers get super offended when someone points out that their way isnt the only way. I have never said "my way" is THE way, only that there is simply not one way to be happy.
i love this post !!!! i donât rlly attend AA too much just because of the mention of the word âGodâ even tho they say itâs just a filler word and what you said you donât have to believe anything or have a concept of a God.
I support anyone who believes anything like if you think thatâs right then sure. I personally think not necessarily believe but think itâs all energy. if you put positive energy out you will receive it back eventually and vice versa. some call it karma but i just think thatâs the way of the universe. we are light beings. we can only perceive so much. just like we canât see certain color we can see certain energy beings around us.( some might call them biblically accurate angels) they are watching and maybe guiding us maybe but definitely watching. There is no hÄll. atoms canât be split and energy doesnât die.
Thanks for sharing. fr you are enlightened đ§ââď¸
YESSSS !!!!!! i love the way you think just yes. i hate to use the word preach but preach. you get it you understand. YOU UNDERSTAND. i meet too many people who just canât comprehend that the concept of God is STUPID.
LITERALLY
your so real your so right
Sometime when you get a chance, look up Jim Burwell AA on YouTube. He was an OG member right there with Bill and Bob and was an atheist. He has a couple talks on YouTube that are worth checking out.
My motto is 'whatever works'. I'm an AA member, and I've got a God of my understanding (which is nothing like the God of the Bible), but I totally get why some folks are turned off by it. That's okay. One of the nice things about AA is that there are meetings all over the world, so regardless of the program you choose, you're welcome to pop in whenever you want or need to.
I kind of look at it like, if the rules of AA "god" are so sloppy, why bother? My motorcycles have always been for more for go and less for show. Why clutter up my life with an imaginary friend.
My imaginary friend helped me clean out the clutter.
My gutter needed real life people. So the people in AA helped me.
You can sit on the couch and pray for that gut to go away or you can get up and put in work or you can pray along with hard work. Two of those will make things happen, and they both involve work. The other one is ineffective.
I agree
. Any program of recovery involves action.
Thank you for posting this. It would have been a lifesaver for me in the beginning.

Great Post
.
Despite the emphasis on âGodâ when the Big Book was written, most accept âhigher powerâ as a replacement. A guy I knew in rehab picked the blinking red light on the smoke detector in his dorm room as his higher power. It worked for him. Who am I to second guess THAT!?!?
That's what I'm saying. If I can pick any dumb thing as a "higher power" what's the point? I prefer to just consider the way my actions affect other people. No "higher power" needed and I'm not gonna make up something to keep the believers comfortable, which basically all that is IMO. The people of AA are my peers and they are also what helps me. They are not a "higher power", but simply people I can count on. It's not complicated to me anymore.
Thanks man
You're welcome! I'm glad it was helpful. Sobriety is for everyone and shouldn't require religious conversion.
AA is spiritual not religious, thankfully or I wouldn't be sober. I have a God of my own understanding, the universe, and that's worked for me. I just can't be God anymore.
So, you believe that the universe sometimes does things just for you?
Absolutely
I love this. Thank you for sharing
