Going to detox for alcohol on Saturday the 11th. Any

I can’t wait to say 1 year sober

Oh ok. Make sure you don’t flake. I have a kid too. She’s 24. She just started law school. I would be a mess right now if I was drinking. She moved from Detroit to Atlanta.

I showed up at Rehab drunk. Whatever you do, just make sure you get your ass there.

Think of it as a gift! Be excited about the new life you are starting. Starting something new is always scary. Hell, I just moved my kid into the dorm last week. I was a wreck. But… I know this is the best thing for him just like getting sober is the best thing you can do for yourself and those who love you! It’s uncharted territory, of course it’s scary. When I detoxed, I took things that comforted me. My own pillow, photos and willingness to be uncomfortable. You’ve got this!!!

Don’t leave rehab too soon!

Bring cozy clothes, a journal, a book, and maybe a picture of someone or something that inspires you! Get out of your comfort zone, put in some good work and take advantage of the resources while you’re there. You got this, you’re making a positive change for yourself, don’t feel guilt or shame. Sometimes we just need a push in the right direction! You will do great

Thank you. The shame kept me sick and living in the shadows. I’m ready to full participate in my life not just exist in it.

Where are you from Nicole?

Michigan

Me too. I’m in Saint Clair Shores. Are you close?

Thank you :pray:t2:

Listen and learn.stay the hole time.don’t cop out.you really got this. Meet people.

Typically rehab is filled with a schedule of meetings (AA, NA, counselor meetings, team meetings...etc), I'd suggest bringing material that isn't necessarily related to recovery. There are cool cuss-word coloring books on Amazon (that's what I took haha)

Hi Dianne! Congratulations on checking into detox. I just brought my favorite pillow and enough clothes for 10 days because I knew I was going into program after for 2 months. As far as I know, most programs have everything you need. I did have coloring books, small craft stuff and stuff to write letters with. Oh! And stamps delivered to me.

Lol I have all the bad coloring books too!
