I'm addicted to having a drink in my hand, or at the ready, at all times. Instead of alcohol, it's sugar-free flavored sparkling water.
Jason I can totally relate to that. I was drinking ginger ale last time, like it was a beer. Today I’m 19 days sober and am not doing that. I’ve lost 14 pounds so far.
Robbie I drank a TON of ginger ale when I first stopped, but figured there was probably too much sugar in them - I don't know.
Jason, you are correct plus 140 calories. I’m drinking only one soda a day and 2-3 coffees. I’m drinking a lot of water mixed with sugar free propel mix, or Liquid IV.
Having something sweet- cookies, cake, etc.
In the past I have replaced my using with fitness, reading, work so on and so forth.
While I am not opposed to any of these, my challenge is when I don't put my sobriety first. If I am not actively doing something for my sobriety, I quickly lose everything else.
Same with a compulsion not to spend. Better than the opposite I guess🤷🏻♂️
oh my gosh yes, specifically re spirituality. that’s amazing that you realized it so early on & are avoiding using it as a crutch. I think you’d probably agree that true spirituality would never trap us like that, there is always freedom
