God doesn’t have to have anything to do with religion. Religion is man made. Inevitably flawed. God is love and expresses differently for everyone who has the courage to seek.
It is easy to use the terms religious experience and spiritual awakening interchangeably until you really get in there and focus. But once you gain some clarity there, you can feel released from the god/religion/aa quandary.

As much as I still love the concept of Gus and will share that friends/sponsees who struggle with the word God. I’ve had a lot of contact for what I believe is the spirit world during my new found journey. One day I was drawn towards this blue recycling can that had the lid off with books piled high above the can. I thought to myself, “why would someone throw all these books away!” I picked up 4 books at random. About a year later I was overwhelmed with this feeling to read. I went to my book shelf and saw one of the books I had brought home from the recycle can. The title “Living by Grace” by Joel S. Goldsmith. This book changed my life, changed my thinking on how I use the word God. I have now read 4 books of his and have a few more waiting for me to read. I’ve come to believe that God is love. God is you, me and everything in the universe. My experience with God is unique to me. I’m not religious. I do respect religion and religious beliefs. Also, in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous it mentions God a lot. I feel that I don’t need to complicate my life anymore then it is already.
God is oneness, omnipotent and infinite. I have found my true peace and happiness in my God of my understanding. Thank you for reaching out and asking a question.

Shit I don’t know. I haven’t taken illegal drugs for a while but I was taking diet pills up until about a week ago and now I switched to energy drinks and I’m not interested in eating. Lol. Hard to know if that’s really progress. Lol
I believe in Jesus and I agree with your last statement. It’s clear that Christ too had problems with religious groups. I’m finding other people of faith that believe but aren’t complete douchebags about it.
I was feeling nauseous for a few days due to anxiety over a big situation. I was told to reset my vagus nerve through box-breathing and bu holding a pack of frozen peas on my chest/diaphragm area with a little pressure as long as I could. I’m eating a little better now. I realized I can’t achieve my goals if I don’t eat. I hope you feel better.
