Why are you yelling?!
This is very true
What has helped me…
I read up on cravings.
The science behind them…tons of information out there.
They last around ten to fifteen minutes I read.
In the beginning, I told myself…get through the next minute.
Sometimes the next second.
Also.
I distracted myself and I still do.
Walk. Write. Clean. Volunteer.
Anything, everything which of course-happens to be a positive alternative.
If AA is not your thing, plenty of other options exist.
Read books.
Listen to podcasts about cravings, addiction, recovery,
The alternatives to picking up, using-are limitless.
I also remember how much I hated myself on the morning I decided to stop drinking ( close to two years ago ).
I play the tape forward as has been advised to me…and I acknowledge that nothing good came from my drinking and that nothing ever will…if I pick up and start drinking.
Keep reaching out.
Glad you asked this question.
I am wishing you well!
Great suggestions and reminders listed throughout this thread.
I second yes, check out Annie Grace…and my sugar intake is too high right now…while I am not drinking alcohol to satisfy that / those sugar cravings.
Would love to know what ends up helping you, please keep us posted!
I like coffee and chocolate. I put some hobby I like in my hands to keep my hands busy. In my case I embroider. Call a sober friend. Write down 6 things that would be bad for you if you take that drink.
A phone call, a meeting, and a good nap.
Too much coffee isn’t good some sugar lots of exercise talking to people prayer meetings
