I am pagan, and it is very hard making sober

So many acronyms for GOD
Group of Drunks, Grace Over Drama, Good Orderly Direction.

That is what I think of when I read the big book or hear people say it

Kind of confused on why you find it discouraging . Pagans believe in not only God but a Goddess as well , not in the traditional way Christians do ,but none the less Pagan draw and ask for power and wisdom and guidance from and thru both God and Goddess. Pagans are very spiritual people ..

@david396889 Where are the flaws in the Judeo-Christian religion? Do you have proof or is this just your opinion?

I agree :100:% with you on the Catholic Church comment.

@mellisa404375 THANK YOU for setting the record straight.

I LOVE this comment. It actually brought tears to my eyes. Because I don't think I would've made it some days without being able to come on here and talk to all of you. Thank you for saying that so well and with all of that love and compassion. I needed to read this.

I'm atheist. We can talk.

Our 12 step program has absolutely nothing to do about religion.
It’s about spirituality….. having a spiritual relationship with the God of our own understanding. Don’t sell yourself short. Get back to meetings. Find a home group. No one at meetings is judging you.
You cannot stay sober by an online group.
I suggest…..
•Get a sponsor.
•Read the first 164 pages of the Big Book.
•Thoroughly work ALL 12 steps with that sponsor.
•Attend an in-person meeting at least daily.
•Keep an OPEN mind. Those that close their minds will end up using or drinking again.
•Listen.
•Just because you don’t believe in a God….. can you trust in the power of the universe?
Long term sobriety is available to each of us IF we do the work.
Best wishes :pray::peace_symbol:

Have you read the first 164 pages of the Big Book.
What WE have is daily reprieve contingent upon the maintenance of our spiritual condition. BB p 84

I'm open to it all. Sorry people didn't make you feel fully accepting.
Blessings

The God factor can be whatever works for you. It doesn't have to be what anybody else's is! Do not let that addict in your head make a roadblock so that you're alone. In my :earth_americas: world of sober living I'm the one who decides what works best for my spiritual self. Don't forget the big book is a wonderful source, but it says "a power greater than yourself" and that will switch all the time. One day at a time. You just treat others as you want to be treated and you will find your pose

Principle before personalities! Best line in the book

Correction: Only through a higher power that we are able to achieve any time sober. Sometimes the group consciousness is what ppl use as their higher power.... and if you utilize it correctly you wont be taken advantage of or on the other hand given bad advice from the group consciousness. May not be what you want to hear, but it is always what you need to/could do. Or at least that has been my experience as I have been in recovery for over 20 years.

Very perfect 100%

I am not a god person by any means. I don't do it I don't believe in it. But Iam not an atheist either. I do use greek philosophy , And that has helped me a lot to navigate the bureaucracy of A.A. Iam here anytime if you'd like to talk.
