This is normal. I think we all crave a little chaos from time to time.

I bought adult coloring books and a set of colored pencils for down time and it’s awesome. I also just realized that skating rinks don’t sell booze so I’ll be roller skating a couple times a week now I guess :flushed:

In my old life before sobriety I was a disaster. It took time for me to be able to see it for what it really was. A slow, expensive and humiliating way to kill myself.

Ashlyn,

According to your tracker,
You have 14 days. You're just starting your journey. It's important that we don't expect too much too soon out of our new life.

We have to give time, time! We didn't get this way overnight and we're not going to get better overnight. I used to sit around drinking and wondering what it would be like to be sober and I just couldn't grasp how normal sober people could stay sober all the time. I couldn't understand how anything could be exciting without a drink. Was I ever wrong!

I learned that life really has a lot to offer but you are the one that has to go out there and make the changes. We have a saying in Alcoholics Anonymous that states,

First Things First

I don't know what your dreams have been or what you have ever thought about doing in your life. I don't know what your ambitions are.

For me, I always wanted to fly airplanes. I did go out for a period of time and embark on becoming a pilot. I did some schooling at a local Airport and did quite a bit of Flight Training up in the air Unfortunately, I had to put it all on the back burner because I still had some wreckage to clean up from my past, which involved a lot of money.

If you can spare about $120, you can go to the local Regional Airport and speak with a flight instructor and tell them that you'd like to go up for a discovery flight.

You will learn how to pre-flight on aircraft and the instructor will get you seated in and you will start going through checklists to start the engine, taxi to the run-up area, do a final systems check and then taxi to the runway for takeoff.

The flight instructor will be with you every step of the way and has a set of controls him or herself and will not let anything go wrong

Excitement in life goes way beyond drinking alcohol. You will learn after a while that you weren't having as good of a time as you thought that you were.

And as far as friends are concerned, I don't even know anyone that I used to party with anymore. When I got sober, they didn't have much use for me, and I really didn't have much use for them.

One, two and three years from now, you're going to be seeing through a different set of lenses, and you're going to realize what a waste of time it was hanging out in those bars.

Get to some AA meetings and get busy with your recovery. The sooner you do that, the sooner life will feel exciting.
