I’m really struggling to quit drinking I need

It’s one day at a time. What helps me when I’ve felt that way is going to a meeting, talking to another alcoholic, getting it out. You can do this Scott.

Hey Scott, my name is Steven, I never liked drinking but I am an alcoholic? The bigger my problem's got the more I drank, the more I drank the bigger my problem's got? My drinking stopped when I hit a pole and some cars in Jersey City? No one else was hurt but me? Paramedics brought me back to life but I know it was God giving me another chance! If you are in a position,a detox program helped me? AA has a lot of good people that you can talk to. Your drinking doesn't have to end like mine did? You have to change for you. I'm only 6 months sober but I never thought I would be? Never Stop Trying! Your worth it!

Thanks Steven

My drug of choice isn’t alcohol. But for me, detox, treatment, sober living, and meetings were all vital. Not everyone needs rehab and sober living, or even meetings. There’s so many ways to go about it. But definitely admitting you need help, and looking for those solutions is an amazing first step.

If you’ve been drinking every day, detox should definitely be considered. It is very easy to go into fatal DT’s that include seizures. And then after that, getting a counselor for accountability and support or even trying IOP/group therapy could be super helpful.

Keep hanging in there and reaching out.

I wish I knew a phrase that would just magically help everyone...
I can share, though, that I keep reminding myself that "today is practice for not drinking tomorrow." Unfortunately, not all practice days are easy (back me up here, athletes and musicians).
Good luck, Scott!
