I had to give up one of my own during my addiction and divorce... I completely understand how difficult it is. I still miss my spunky fur ball. 
I can't watch my favorite movie because it brings back painful memories. Ace ventura when nature calls would trigger me bc my cat was named after ace's monkey..

Stay with sobriety and developing a new healthy life.
12 step meetings and churches have activities that you can get involved in. Try that. We have dances go out for coffee. Some meetings have hikes.
