Non alcoholic beer

They are expensive.
Almost $10 a six pack.

I am too afraid to try any of the non alcoholic drinks.
I have a few 24 hrs under my belt but I do not want to be triggered.

“Cunning, baffling, powerful”.

I drink Zoa and Bang energy drinks. But, anything that comes close to a mocktail or real alcoholic beverage. I steer clear from, not everyone has too, but I know I'd have mad cravings if I tried a mocktail.

Personally I would not bec I fear the taste may wake up my disease always simmering under the surface

Most “non-alcoholic” drinks still have a small amount of alcohol in them. If I believe the Big Book (I do), any amount of alcohol is capable of triggering the obsession.

Long story short, I steer clear of them.

Don’t they have a small percentage of alcohol?? I personally do not pretend to drink…no mock tails for me.

I heard something that I thought was funny. My sponsor told me “non-alcoholic beers are for non-alcoholics”.

While I don’t recommend drinking NA beer the alcohol content can be less than some juices like apple and orange.

I’ve tried it once a month or so in, I was so paranoid that the bartender accidentally put alcohol in it that couldn’t even enjoy it.
Little over a year sober now. Just went to a wedding which was the biggest challenge I’ve had so far. Had 1 lemonade and caught myself smelling the drink before every sip.
I’d rather just have my fun drinks at home and avoid any mix ups or tempting situations.
I like getting sparkling water and just squirting some lemon or lime juice in it for a kick. That’s about as far from coffee I travel.

I avoid it altogether. No real sense in it. Beer doesn’t taste good anyway.

It's really hard to recommend how far into recovery you should be. We're all very different. I want to be super clear - I don't recommend what I did! I had my mind set that I wasn't drinking but that I was going to be as close to normal as possible. The day I 'graduated' from a useless IOP is the day I had n/a. That was 2 and a half years ago and I have not had a real sip of alcohol. I don't believe in powerlessness over alcohol and I don't believe in AA. I do believe those things work for others though. Bottom line: if you are not sure you are in control, don't try it, ever. If you have taken control of your life, then you are capable of deciding if you're ready or not. Lastly, I stress this, my way is not for everyone. Please be careful and err on the side of caution.

I’m still in the habit of having something to drink. What got me off the sauce was flavored bubble water and mixed with sprite. The habit of still mixing a drink made it better for me. Now I mix ice tea and lemonade (homemade Arnold Palmer) with a splash of sprite for the carbonation. Find your favorite mix and roll with it. I’d have my wife watch me poor that to rebuild trust and accountability.

I like it but I know it’s not for everyone

I’m curious but also scared to death because of stories like these

Why would you want to do that to yourself? Absolutely not worth it

Who are these last few posts directed to? I don't understand them. I'm missing something, I guess.

It’s just taste not the buzz
Another coping mechanism

Truth.

For me, I didn’t drink for taste rather effect. So they did nothing for me.
I have tried various NA beers and none have triggered me. However, I have heard this could be for some. My advice we be to just stay away.
