1st day again….I need to get to some meetings. Did an on line tonight and it was helpful. I’ve also have family problems like that too. This darn disease!
I bartended as well as served for about ten years and thought I was fine with it, it really isn't conducive to recovery, I now work a desk job as a manager in the office of a home improvement company and I am so much happier, I have a structured schedule where I get a good night's sleep every night, I get a steady paycheck and I am not crazy stressed anymore, I am not constantly around people who drink and use.. not saying that is the type of job you should get, just saying that finding something that is less stressful with steady pay, benefits, a set schedule with normal work hours, can be a huge benefit for you and your mental health.. I have more been clean and sober for just over a year and have never felt better! You've got this! Just keep your head in the here and now, focus on the important things, realize that you can't control the world around you but you can control what environment you put yourself in and how you react to the things that happen to you and around you.. I'm rooting for you! keep it up and remember we are all here for you if you need to talk or vent!
Stay focused…
Keep faith build a relationship with your higher power and things will work out. It might seem like it’s not at first. But as long as you have faith and keep in the right path. It will get better I promise you if you need anything don’t hesitate to text me or anyone on here. You rock for staying sober for 24 hrs keep on trudging.!.!.
One day at a time my friend. I know the feels, I’m a bartender and have lost a couple of jobs because of my drinking. Im glad that you’re reaching out at meetings and on here. If you need to chat message me ! It’s what we’re all here for.
Just keep doing what you just did...24 hrs without a drink, and being with other recovering alcoholics/addicts.
Try not to think too far into the future. As you start to feel stronger, and more clear headed, you will start making good decisions regarding a job...We are here for you!
You can do it!! AA saved my like. Find a sponsor. People to call. Jump all the way in. Your best years are ahead!!
I found a great group we have been meeting at noon and I talk to them throughout the day, I really felt connected with this group right away❤️
Cool AA group?
Jen , I totally understand. I've been sober four days now.. Just take it one day at a time..I've been sober for several months before but I dust myself off and started climbing again.. You got this..
Well where I live if an employer knows you have an issue they have to offer you help. If you got fired for it then obviously they knew that, so look into the laws where you are. If you are at risk for your child then go to a rehab and whatever you need to do to have real records of getting help so it's documented in case things happen. Get yourself new surroundings and take pride in you and being sober. Get a new career, sure it may not be as lucrative right away but the payoff and benefit can only help you for you and your child. If things don't end up the way you want just keep moving forward and improve yourself. Tomorrow is another day and you can work on planning the future.
