Yes but will weed ruin my life the way alcohol and meth have? Doubt it. When you say you’re replacing one with another. Weed is a medicine and legal most places.. So how is that any different than the Ativan my doctor has me on? Does that mean I’m not sober or just replacing alcohol with Ativan?

Its a personal decision....my recovery coach would ask what the intent was

Usually something like that for me would cause me to want other things....

I've actually seen people addicted to weed. When they where out they would fight terrible, talk to everyone like trash and push them around, and they call weed a drug cuz it gets you high. I used to like it, tried it again after I had my kid and it's a no go for me. Felt like my heart was pounding out my chest, was real light headed also had tunnel vision lights ect. And no, it was not laced.

I think if u smoke weed u are not sober

Ur right. Cuz it gets u high

I’ve never seen anyone act that way from marijuana. Technically caffeine is a drug because it alters your mind as well. My whole point was, where do you draw the line as an addict. She said if you smoke weed you’re trading alcohol for another drug. So if you quit alcohol and your doctor puts you on a benzo. Is that a drug? Is that relapsing? You could just as easily get a medical card to replace the benzo as well. Just food for thought.

Speaking for myself, if I use any drug, not just the ones I have a problem with, then I reset my clock. For example my marijuana I would reset my clock even though I've never ever had any issue with it. But that's just me. I'm in a program of complete abstinence from all drugs and I take that to heart because I can't be rationalizing to myself all the time, I could argue myself into all sorts of situations, it's better to just draw the line.

I take this same approach. It has worked for me in the past, and it’s working once again. Most people I know who have long term sobriety follow a similar thought process. I stay open minded regarding other programs for other people because I just don’t know all there is to know. I do me, and support others in their program.

I would think you need to look at the reaction. If it truly was just a beer, like a cup of coffee and you don’t find yourself wanting another any time soon then you’re probably good. But, you’ll need to be really honest with yourself and if there becomes a craving for the feeling (or one becomes two which becomes three) then you’ll have your answer. Be honest in your assessment of yourself and determine what’s right for you.

People arnt stupid we all know what gets you high and what doesn't. Weed and benzos get you high af and if you call yourself sober then you're only lying to yourself. In the end nobody else really cares it's just a word. If you wanna do those things and say you're sober you certainly can nobody is going to stop you but that doesn't necessarily make it the truth, which is what recovery is all about.
