Temptations

Hi Zach!
What keeps me sober is staying in the moment and yoga. Yoga also helps my body feel better and when i feel better the urge normally goes away. And honestly if i go back it’s death. Ask yourself what are the pros and cons of using and there’s usually way more cons. Tbh AA doesn’t rlly works for me cos i’ll just find a relapse buddy…. This app helps me stay mindful! Keep pushing stay strong :muscle: we’re in this together.

Knowing that my family is proud of me for being sober, and that they would be worried for me if I stopped being sober. I think just knowing someone cares what I do and that I'm happy really helps.

It sounds like that's a sponsor for lots of folks. For me, it's my husband and my brother. Either way, I think we've got a real human need for connection to help us stay on track. Find the people who want sobriety and happiness for you - whether through AA or another avenue - and spend your time with them. You got this!

I couldn’t do this without my support network. I am talking AA friends, counselor, medication doctor, recovery coach. My family isn’t much help so I don’t care if I see them. All drinkers don’t care to be in their company and listen to them tell me to just not drink. Sure no problem idiots.

My brother died the color of a lemon at the age of 33 with no liver left working. My dear friend was found dead in his car he bled out from Alcoholism. I watched my brother die and was very upset that I fell into the same rabbit hole. I was lucky enough to go to a wonderful hospital and got medically detox and was put on drinking medication. I am coming up on 28 months February 3rd and I have never been happier. I don’t have to sneak anymore.

I gave up not only drinking but being with most of my family too. Recovery isn’t for the faint of heart it’s brutal but when your ready your ready. One moment, one hour, one day at a time.

Please try some meeting and make some sober friends if possible. You will be surprised How many people don’t drink. It really isn’t that cool anymore.
