I felt similar. I openly refer to it as “the god hurdle”. I didn’t even start with a higher power. I just agreed that there was a power greater than myself out there. I looked at it mathematically for some reason. I decided that I alone couldn’t stay sober but with my home group fellowship my obsession wasn’t as strong. So my group was my power greater than myself.
As time has gone by my feelings have evolved. I still have no conception of “god”. I’ve just learned to trust my instinct (gut) over my brain (ego).
