I like that. Sounds like you got yourself a great home group
Stop by if you’re ever in San Antonio
Depends on where you are. In my community we intermingle just fine. I’m a boozer and go to NA meetings no probs. Druggies come to AA meetings all the time. No probs. Don’t make division that isn’t there. There wasn’t different wards at my rehab.
Wow, I haven’t experienced that yet. I come from a clan that inherited that additive gene and those of us that struggled, do not all have the same drug of choice.
That’s what I’m talking about. Same for me we had everyone together. The division as you say was around looong before I was an addict and I think you’re misinterpreting my point which was why have it being 2 things when we’re both all addicts? That’s where the division lies not from me pointing it out. Thanks for the comment and discussion
Yup. That’s all good natured of course.
I hope no one gets offended by this, but I like to say the the druggies all came in hyped up and calmed down; the boozers came in all zombied out then pepped up and we all ended up in the same place.
It’s more questioning why they are separate meetings instead of just one common meeting at this point. We all join each others meetings because the same principles are taught so that’s what I’m wondering about

That had me laughing good:metal:t2:
Agreed. They should be combined.
I choose AA because, while i have certainly abused chemicals, i have not suffered an active addiction to any other than caffeine, nicotine, and alcohol, hence my program of recovery surrounds myself with those closest to me in weakness. They are very similar but there are key differences expressed in each group's democratic conscience, like not naming chemicals of choice at NA in order to serve the group as a whole with their varied addictions. Whereas in AA, few struggling alcoholics would tell themselves, "We are not like Doc, he drank Scotch, so we must not be drunks."
I personally don’t look at it that way because I have learned enough about the disease of addiction to understand that there is no lesser of the two evils. I would never think of myself as being better than someone else when we all suffer from the disease of addiction. That would be like breast cancer patients not liking lung cancer patients.
Well we are all people trying to stay well. We do that together. Being a addict or alcoholic or cross addict is not a matter of being a bad person. We are all people with a disease we fight to stay in recovery from. I have a home group. And we have been blessed to have newcomers of every kind of addiction come to our meetings. Everyone is welcome. Working a 12 step program is what we are all part of. We stay sober by sharing our experience strength hope with all who Withholding help to anyone because they have a different addiction is just plain wrong. I feel very strong about this
Couldn’t agree with that more! That’s the only way it should be
AA is the mothership, NA is the othership, the only difference between the twelve steps of each, is that NA has the word we, before each of the first 11 steps, and its in the middle of the 12th!
