Still trying to find non drinking friends and social activities, outlets other than bars, which i still frequent as I did in my old life. Holidays was a struggle. New to the app. Any recommendations that aren't religious? Ty!

There's sober leagues for bowling, pool, darts, softball....

Thx mark. I also have hard time defining sober. Alcohol only? I am pro 420 and not sure how that is with some people accept or are fine with that aspect of my situation
I believe the medicinal use for it is valid, and as opposed to alot of the other medications the main side effects are a sense of calmness and occasional munchies. Lol But at the end of the day that's all really up to you, no one can tell you what works for you, but you.

the way that I have met most of my in person sober friends is through The Luckiest Club. I have also tried the meet up website for outdoors activities and had success in locating sober people. You just have to be diligent and open, and a little adventurous!

I’m in the exact same boat as you so I don’t really have any advice but congrats on one year! I’ve been thinking of it as all of last year was dedicated to building willpower and only really concentrating on not drinking, and this year I want to dedicate to finding new hobbies and interests now that I’m stronger. What those are yet I don’t know but I’m sure we’ll figure it out.

It’s an online recovery support program. They have meetings and an online forum. I found local people through the subgroups in the forum.

Gyms are good places to relieve stress and full of health conscious people. Obviously not all sober people but doing healthy activities you can find friends that don’t revolve around bars
