I decided to grow some pumpkins again this year. My record was 91 lbs during COVID. Well, I worked hard, stayed sober and planted a pumpkin patch this spring/summer. Well, I have officially grew a 93 lb pumpkin and it is still growing. Actually I have 3 other pumpkins in my patch that are close to that. We still have time till the hard frosts that will end my growing season. The planting and caring for them is so much more than just growing a big pumpkin. It is dedication to not give up, peace and serenity in that I get when I am out there, doing fertilizer, watering and figuring out where to point the secondary vines. The pumpkin in the end will show the final part, but the journey along the way is the part of beauty. Now, every pound of growth is a bonus... Every day is a blessing. I love my sober life.
Way to go, Ron!
Awesome..
Pretty awesome It is amazing how things start turning up well in our lives, when we put in that dedication and hard work!
My watermelon is almost 40 pounds
That’s awesome! Reminded of my daughter’s little garden. She showed me the cutest little watermelon. She’s so proud of of it. This made me smile. Congrats Ron!
Thanks for the comments.
My two largest pumpkins are being donated to a silent auction here in Duluth,MN
The annual Adult and Teen Challenge Gala on October 2nd.
I offered them up with all funds raised going to support the place I was a client at. I was told that they believe that I am the first client to donate to the auction. I also am donating 2 tickets for 12 dozen fishing leeches that I harvest from my pond on my property and two tamarack trees I have been growing in 3 gallon nursery pots.
Good for you growing pumpkins for your own sake it’s something real to do and challenging for fun yes I love my sober life to going to sleep every night with a clear mind and conscious is a huge reward in itself.!!
That is awesome!! And congratulations! Please share when it’s grown all it can
Will do. I had stopped at a local pumpkin patch the other day and talked with the owner about his great pumpkins and how to get my patch to produce a few super pumpkins. He has grown 1500 lb pumpkins. So, next year I am going for extra large pumpkins, along with regular sized ones. I will post a final picture with the weight of this year's largest great pumpkins.
