I have my mind made up, that I am not drinking. However, I’m trying to scratch the itch without substituting alcohol with sugar or carbs and instead, I’ve been drinking a LOT of club soda’s and lime which I know is fairly common. My two DOC’s when I was drinking were gin and tonics/vodka soda’s, so I suppose this makes sense. I feel really great but wondering if there were any other tips that any of you would like to share!
Having a supportive sober circle helps a ton. This app is a great start but maybe try and find a community near u who can keep u accountable.
Your doing amazing. I’m fairly new at this but what about sugar free hard candy? The cravings should subside after a while. The app is amazing and here whenever you need it.. Keep it up.
I have to admit that I crave sugar ~ mainly chocolate, but I have 2 book recommendations for you. Annie Grace is GREAT & she wrote 2 books. One is called This Naked Mind & the other is called The 30 Day Alcohol Experiment. The 1st one was very enlightening for me about cravings, habits, society, social peer pressure to drink etc., etc. Then I went through her program called The PATH which at that time was only 90 days. Now it’s a whole year so I’m not sure if you want to invest that much time, but it worked for me & it’s been over 8 months since I had any alcohol
. I mostly drink caffeine free Diet Coke & bubbly water. You should examine the false belief that you think you NEED alcohol which is causing the “itch”.
This Naked Mind by Annie Grace is an excellent book!!!
Thank you so much for the recommendation!! I’d love to check that out. I drink a lot of those caffeine free diet cokes as well, even while I was still drinking. But lately I’ve been drinking yuzu mandarin sparkling water with lemon or lime and it is fantastic.
