18 months is a reason to celebrate!

I feel fortunate and happy to wake up sober and ready to face the day. My life is better today, and I feel more calmer and more at peace. For decades, I was a chronic relapser; this time around, I will communicate with 4 different people BEFORE I want to drink and listen to what they have to say. I'm also talking to people about my elderly Mom and asking them to remind me tht nothing that happens regarding her situation is a reason to drink or smoke pot. I rarely have an urge to drink or get high, so I'm able to concentrate on improving my character defects and my relationships with others. And having sober fun along the way. I wish for you all a sober day!

Congratulations Linda!! Great post! There’s a saying in recovery that says “it takes what it takes”. All that you have gone thru has lead you to where you are today. Hitting a bottom is a process, and recovery is also a process. You have made a decision to build a sober life for yourself, and you continue to make this decision ODAAT. I have witnessed your progress over these 18 months, and it’s great to see you enjoying some peace and happiness.

Linda, 18 months let’s gooo! It shows you’re really working your recovery.
Reaching out to 4 people BEFORE you drink, that’s gold. A lot of people wait until they’re already spiralling. That’s can really make the difference.
All the above! Congrats on the peace you’re building.

Keep pushing through! Proud of you
