2 days sober. I'm trying to make it to halloween

2 days sober. I'm trying to make it to halloween. I want to make it further than that but I'm taking small steps. Idk how many times I've tried to quit drinking.

One way I looked at it was ill drink tomorrow. Then tomorrow comes and I say I'll drink tomorrow. All we have is today. Trick your mind.

Been in your shoes before…don’t give up if you slip up. Just keep trying and making adjustments and learn from your mistakes! You can do it!

Get to a meeting, like 90 in 90 days. Get a sponsor (be accountable to someone). If you want sobriety you’ve got to work for it, but, oh my, the rewards. A chance for a new beginning, make things right with the past and follow the path for a brighter tomorrow. It works if you work it. God bless

If you slip do not give up I have slipped and relapsed repeatedly but at age 73 I finally have this disease licked by the grace of God.

I echo everything Michael said! You have to put in the work but most importantly, you can’t do it alone. Meetings (preferably in person but online can work) and a sponsor are key. This community is also another good resource to use to keep you going. If you take it one day at a time and take some action/suggestions from folks in the program, I am confident you can make it past Halloween. Best of luck and we’re here for you!

Hi Kayla congrats on 2 days that's awesome! Take it 1 day at a time :heartbeat:

In the beginning I couldn't think that far ahead. Don't drink today, don't drink between now and the time I go to bed...THAT I can do!! I could always stop drinking, but I couldn't ever stay stopped! I had to get into AA, and relate and identify with people's stories and not compare. I wasn't ever a daily drinker, so for years I lied to myself that I wasn't an alcoholic.

Just try “one day at a time”

I had to go one literal minute at a time…when starting this journey.

Even one hour felt difficult.
Figure out what you will do…to prevent relapsing.
There are many paths and options available in order to keep going and actually thrive.
All the best to you,
Kayla!

We are all just 1 day. Just for today

Small battles wins big wars. Take it day by day.

If you fall don’t fell like it’s the end of the world.

Rely on others and through the hard times under pressure is when you really realize and learn who you are and that you are worth it.

I’ve been sober for a while now and I also struggle. This community of people on this app as truly helped so much.

I don’t know you but I believe in you.

One day at a time. All we have to control

Oh I relapsed so many times, it was ridiculous! But when I finally got sick and tired of the hangovers, the toxic relationships with myself and others etc., I went all in on the AA program. At first I thought it’d be boring and I didn’t like anyone. But I actually loved it and made some really awesome friends. I learned this is the easier & softer way.
I hope this helps…

You got this! I’ll have a week on Tuesday and so far it’s been the best choice I’ve ever made but you have to be ready and stay in recovery dont let old thoughts fool you and try to keep to yourself and keep yourself happy I also got a dog about 2 weeks ago to help me with accountability. Just gotta really be tired of being sick and tired

And try and find people who are sober to hangout with and will hold you accountable but it’s all up to you you can’t do it for anyone else but yourself and when you understand that it gets so much easier. Not that the journey will be easy it’s gonna test you and pull you in all different directions just stay in the right path and good things will come

Find a sponsor also someone to call and really talk to you should be able to tell them anything and I mean anything and everything.

You got this!

I am also getting sober (agaaain) and I get less anxiety thinking about explaining myself in social situations by being able to say it’s “sober October” and then hopefully I’m strong enough to just keep it going after that.

You got this babes ❤️‍🔥
