29 days in. I'm doing pretty well! I went to my first social event since quitting. I found it difficult to turn down the wine, but i did it!! Shortly after I did I got extremely nervous. I then realized that I've been drinking socially to treat social anxiety that I have. I'll need to learn to feel comfortable in a group setting without it.
Hi Laurie
Congratulations on 29..umm 31 today??!!
That was quite a chance you took, and an amazing realization you had. It gets easier. Although, a good thing would be to always have a way home if youāre feeling too uncomfortable!
Good luck and congrats
Hi Laurie,
Congratulations on 29.
If you donāt mind me asking you to read your comment out loud and rephrase youāre last sentence from what you wrote to āI am leaning how to feel comfortable in a group setting without itā. Because youāre doing great! This is you learning. Iām proud of you and take time with yourself. Itās a process and make sure that you are in a safe setting or with a sober buddy, a sponsor or someone who can be your rock so that you can lean on ājust in caseā during exposure therapy. I also found meditation before and after events have been key for me. I hope you found my advise somewhat helpful and Iām very proud of you. Good job!
Yes. 31 and doing alright. I have been drinking these hop seltzer waters that tastes just like IPA and I actually feel like I'm not missing out now. Zero alcohol and zero calories. Its amazing!
Wow! This is amazing. Not only have you been sober 29+ days- but you've also recognized that you have something to work on. Way to take charge.
I stayed away from social settings where alcohol was present for quite awhile. Then, I got very comfortable with myself enough to go anywhere without worry. I order water, coffee or a Coke and give the rest to God ! Haven't had a drink for over 32 years. We are in this together which is what makes our program work. Congratulations
and keep on going one day at a time.
