I’m so glad you’re here, M. Don’t let your youth keep you from finding a life of sobriety. I know you said you drink because of the trauma in your life but you also drink because you’re an alcoholic. I started drinking when I was 13 and by the age of 15 I was a full blown alcoholic. Unfortunately, I didn’t find sobriety until 30 some years later. There’s nothing to be ashamed of. I equate alcoholism to diabetes. The AA meetings and working the steps are like the insulin to me. You would not be ashamed to be a diabetic so no need to be ashamed to be an alcoholic. I applaud you for getting the help you need. Try women’s meetings. I think you’ll find it easier to talk and open up maybe. We are all in this together. A lot of us have been where you are and we can relate. You’d be surprised how many people you can help just by being there. May you find the love and acceptance in the group like I did and blossom into a life of recovery. I’m here to talk if you ever need someone. Let us love you until you can love yourself.

Stick with it. It's the best thing I've done in my life. Alcohol is a drug. You can try N/A as well. Usually younger crowds and it's all still relative. It's what I choose to go to instead of A/A.

Hi m, I struggled a lot in highschool myself. I came from a domestic abuse household. I didn't call it abuse until I was 37 or 38. I'm so sorry to hear that you've endured so much so soon in your life. You are worth getting sober for and you've already demonstrated how strong you are by coming here and seeking help in other ways. I hope you find a teen aa or similar program that works for you. Keep coming back, this is a supportive group.

I used to live in that area.we need older people in meetings.they will help you if you let them.it will not get better.I now I was older .I was 26 years everyone was in there 60.I have 35 years.if you want it bad enough go get it.aa :dromedary_camel:
