2nd day sober
, i’m a high schooler and i’ve come dependent on alc . it started after a toxic relationship and then my sadness became worse after being sent to a physc ward . i drink bc of s/a trauma and bc of clinical depression . how do you guys stay sober for so long
? i tried going to aa but i was too embarrassed so i left ( since i was the youngest one )
Hi m, there are some incredible women in sobriety and on this app who can help you tremendously. There are many paths to sobriety, not just 12 steps. Keep trying until you find one that works for you. Maybe a womens group would feel safer for you. Glad you’re here.
Well glad you're here I started drinking allot in high school to wish I wouldn't of but don't feel embarrassed to be at aa we are all there for each other but reach out to others there is allot of literature on recovery stay busy make a schedule exercise we are all here with you one day at a time
Hi m, it’s brilliant that you are exploring sobriety at your age! I too was dependent on alcohol in high school, but did not get sober until I was 28. I hope to shift your thinking a bit, you should be proud to be seeking sobriety at your age, leave the shame at the door. I suggest trying again, and if AA doesn’t seem like your jam, there are so many other options: The Luckiest Club, SMART Recovery, Recovery Dharma, Women for Sobriety, to name a few. You are welcome to reach out if you would like to talk some more.
M,
I just want to say I am so proud of you and inspired by your willingness to explore getting sober at such a young age. I’m jealous!! This is a gift that few have the opportunity to explore and receive. Be kind to yourself. Be gentle. It is, quite honestly, one day at a time.
Find a network of women to call upon and ask lots of questions! Don’t let age or experience throw you off. We are all here to help and want to see you be the best you you can be!
Lots of great responses. We all have a special place for young people in recovery. Most of started having problems as soon as we started drinking, but didn’t get help until many years later. I wish there were more options when I was younger. It’s amazing that you are ready to start your journey now. Go for it! We all support you!
thank u <3 this meant a lot
thank you so much for this information <3 i go to substance abuse therapy once a week , and therapy twice a week with phycitrist appoints every other week !
lot of support it just still is so hard . thank u for letting me know abt the aa stuff tho !
Welcome M!
There’s no need to be embarrassed. We are all in this together. AA is a safe place to be. There’s no age limit. The o my requirement is the desire to stop drinking. I’ve meet a lot of young people in the rooms. However it’s normal to feel the way you’re feeling. C
Give AA another try. Reach out to the newcomer rep if you’re to shy to speak at group level. AA has changed my life forever! One day at a time! AA is a we program. There are people in those rooms that need your help as well to keep them sober.
I’m here if you need anything. Have a wonderful day sober my friend
After shakes and withdraw seizures I scared to puck up . Still attend AA daily and follow the advice of the room one day at a time
Its worth working
Congrats everyday with a drink is good
Mid spoke everyday without a drink is a good day
Please please please keep going! If you can do 2 days you can make it 2 years and more one day at a time and you WILL get there! Never stop trying even if you relapsed it happens and the key is to keep trying when you lost! It’s not over
thank you !!
okay !!
Welcome m, reach out anytime.
You’re welcome
What state are you in? I’ll help you find a teen AA group!
