Carved corners and dragged a knee through a state park...Life is sooo good!!!!
You earned it
Awesome. Keep the DREAM ALIVE. NICE BIKE. A VISION FOR YOU. ISN'T JUST ABOUT MEETINGS. IT'S ABOUT RE-CREATING YOUR LIFE. IF YOU CAN DO 32 MONTHS. YOU CAN DO 64 MONTHS ONE DAY AT A TIME
The spot I am parked at has a story behind it.
When I was 15, 38 years ago. My father drove me up to this park for my birthday, just him and myself. We walked around to see the park and when we were ready to leave, I jumped on the back of his motorcycle and he asked what I was doing? I told him getting on the back. He said, you are driving us home. No license at 15, but I had been riding motorcycles since I was 9. He told me to watch out for the certain corners and the dirt that cars wash up onto the road. He let me drive 20+ miles all the way home. Such a great memory of that time with him and the trust he had put in me with his pride and joy....his motorcycle.
I was smiling ear to ear for days.
We lost my father 3 years ago and during my whole day driving up there, I had him on my mind. He still is watching over me. 0:)
This Friday is my birthday and it will be exactly 38 years to the day that he let me take the lead and drive him home.
Such a great memory of him and myself together. Got a bit choked up a few times during my ride today.
I purchased the bike.... 1994 Kawasaki zx6 with 9800 miles on it a month ago, for $700... Because the owner believed it to be a blown up motor. Turns out it was far from being blown up. Tore the engine down, for pretty much nothing wrong with it. Honed the cylinder's, new head gasket and installed new piston rings and put in a new starter and rebuilt the 4 carburetor's myself. Runs like a new motorcycle and looks like it came off the showroom floor. Exceptional for being a 30 year old motorcycle. It was a labor of love to tear it down and make it run like new.
Remember those memories. And make your Father's PASSING as the REASON WHY YOU BECOME SUCCESSFUL IN LIFE AND not the reason why you can't. Congratulations ON YOUR SOBRIETY AND YOU HAVE A NICE BIKE. DOESN'T LOOK 30 YEARS OLD.
