329 days sober from alcohol. Looking forward to one year, which is on July 10th! Since kicking the habit, I've made a promise to myself to not go back to that mess ever again. I also made a promise to myself not to trade one mind altering drug with another. To me, alcohol is a mind altering drug.
After 14+ years of suppressing my feelings and anxiety with this garbage I was consuming, I had enough. Meaning, I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I decided to take the route by tapering off and practicing yoga at home, along with going on Reddit and YouTube for online support focusing on addiction and sobriety. That combination of the three led me to quit drinking for good.
To this day at the age of 35 1/2, I'm learning more and more about myself slowly but surely. Using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) in peer support groups I'm still going to online have helped me so much along the way. I am very thankful to be alive, clean and sober. I'm still fixing some of my health issues, but it's better than nothing.
