36 days sober and the cravings seem really strong right now

I'm doing well in my program, but so many times, at that after work hour I find myself with really strong cravings to just to unwind with a few drinks (hah). And weekends especially this weekend. Need some suggestions other than more meetings, to get out if my head right now!

Pray on it, if that doesn’t work call someone from your meetings, if that doesn’t work go do something like eat, workout, or run errands. That helps me. But sometimes you just gotta ride it out. You only have 36 days I’m at 62 your gonna crave it.

Keep your mind working. Go on a walk after work, or to the gym. Plan a great meal and prepare it. The cravings get easier to deal with as you get down the road. Just keep working your program and staying involved.

I find myself wanting to be around people (family) people that don’t know me cuz it’s easier!!

Love the advice above.

Keep busy and when the craving comes in count to five, say to yourself “what if it all works out?” And do something, anything, healthy to distract.

In my toughest moments when I really just needed “something” Sweets, nicotine, caffeine all helped me at one time or another. I only drink caffeinated beverages now, but nicotine helped a lot when I really couldn’t go without a “something”- especially in a social situation. FWIW these suggestions are my own and I don’t believe any sober programs or literature recommends nicotine or other substances as a supplement. But it did help me and so I am sharing that experience.

I always focus on my body when I’ve exhausted all mental options. Healthy stress such as a workout or going to a steam room or sauna seems to relax and rejuvenate my mind and body together. It can even be as simple as stretching or getting a massage. Please feel free to reach out if you need!

Thank you!
