38 days sober and feel amazing physically but can’t shake the loneness feeling of not being able to do certain things with my friends.
Congratulations! I am 54 days sober and have your same dilemma. Its very difficult but I am starting to get out more to see where the day takes me. However, I am very lonely when I am home alone. I feel sad when I have too much time to think.
That will come in time. I avoided my friends the first 9 months of sobriety. Last night I went to a baseball game, tailgated for several hours, sat and watched the Brewers win and never once thought of joining the group in shots, or beers. I know it seems an impossible task but you can do it if you want it. The bonus is I made sure everyone got home safe! Believe in your own strength!
It’s very early and it’ll change! Congrats on 38 days
Are you attending any sober support meetings? Having friends that have the same issues and goals is super important I think. That’s the beauty of A.A. You get to meet people who know exactly what you are going through and are there for you.
This is definitely the struggle for most. You’re not alone.
It’s hard and will improve!
I lost all my “friends” when I stopped drinking. I have no one now. Some days are better than others but I’d rather be alone with myself and like the person I am than a drunk loser with those old fools.
There will not be enough hours in a day after your sober awhile. Enjoy the moment congratulations your doing awesome so happy for you’
I live in a very small town that offers little support for sobriety so the ones that they do offer I go however not many people there and many around my age. But I am hoping I can make some connections there!
It’s real
I’m 2-1/2 years sober and I’m going out with a group of people I’ve never met from the meet up app… mini golf… so far that’s like the only thing I can do with them as it’s mostly at bars, wineries, or something to do with getting drinks.. I’m just looking for friends… the loneliness aspect of sobriety is still there from time to time… hang in there my friend. Keep posting on here maybe you’ll find a friend on here that will travel with ya…
Absolutely the worst part. It takes a while to start enjoying things without it but it does come with time. You made the right decision and there is no doubt so keep that in mind
Invite them to do things with you. If they are friends they will support you in your journey.
We all need people.if you can not find any at all .may think about meetings of any kind.all programs are on line .trying to help people.just look.find new friends.
You’ll be able to do them just sober. Not a bad thing
If you can still drive, use the ‘meeting guide’ app for AA or the ‘NA meetings’ app. You can search for miles around you. Worst case scenario, there’s AA Zoom meetings also. Not the best, but anything that works at this point is worth trying…just a suggestion! Stay the course, you got this!
Wow, you tailgated a Brewers game with those friends and stood strong? Impressive.
Not impressive, I just have the resolve to not drink ever again. I remember what it was like.
