5 months and I lost it…back to square 1

What did you learn?

To be honest I’m scared….I felt like I was doing really well I wasn’t thinking about drinking at all all these months and then randomly an opportunity presented itself and I just went…it was like I was watching it happen and couldn’t stop it

Don’t beat yourself up. One mistake doesn’t erase the last five months.

This disease is cunning, baffling, and powerful. It can lull any of us into a sense of security and then leads us back down a dark path.

The difference here is that you didn't let the demon take over. You made a mistake and you are already taking steps to move forward. That's not failure. That's called learning.

TJ has a good point. It’s not failing it’s learning. Don’t be too hard on yourself.

Kudos to you for getting on track right away.
I did the same thing earlier this year. For no apparent reason, no craving, I had a beer. It took me 3 months to stop. My mistake, to me, I grew complacent and forgot it truly is one day at a time, sometimes one hour.
I should have hit a meeting the next day but felt down and defeated.
