5 years and 8 months sober. I went to AA

5 years and 8 months sober. I went to AA weekly, got a sponsor, went through the steps (even though the last few are technically continuous), and i love going occasionally, especially if I am feeling down. The only reason i isually go though is cuz so many other people say it’s the “only” way to stay sober. When I go consistently, it feels more draining and puts me in such a negative headspace. I only try to go cuz that is what i am told to do. I feel best when i am surrounded with sober people doing fun and active sober things, like with The Phoenix. I totally understand that there is important internal and spiritual work to be done, though, so it doesn’t feel like I am white knuckling it. Therapy sometimes even feels like a negativity loop. Still gonna keep going, and still gonna go to the occasional AA meeting, but i am looking for something more aligned. What are your suggestions?

Congrats! I'm 5 years 9 months. I do lots of stuff too. Have a home group but like to do other meetings too. Mix it up between AA, CA, and NA. We have a circuit speaker in my town that is once a month which is pretty cool. Gotta keep it fresh and not get stagnant. Good luck!
