51 days and I'm really wanting to drink for my pain

I have severe fibromyalgia and arthritis and didn't realize how much pain the alcohol covered up in the last 15 years since my diagnoses. Every day is a struggle with brain fog, nerve and joint and muscle pain. If I do the smallest physical tasks I am ready to sleep for 20 hrs. But can't be cause I work 40 hrs a week. Today just seems to much to bear.

It numbs the pain sure… but at what cost? There are other things I hat help with pain. I don’t know the extent of or what is like having fibromyalgia, so I am sorry. I do know alcohol doesn’t help with joint pain or health. Hope you find relief.

Kate, look into SAM-e

Yes gabapentin, duloxitine, cymbalta, effector, nsaids, osteobiflex, cbd oils and gummies and countless herbal remedies, I have tried them all over the years and they work for a month or so then stop. Many friends take oxy or percocet but I do not want to even start on those. Sorry to be such a negative Nancy but when you've tried everything and had nothing last it's very frustrating.

If alcohol was working well for your situation and ailments, you would not be on here. I know early on that an insane solution would seem sane. Drinking for any reason for me is insane. It never worked, I just pretended it did for an excuse to drink.
I have worked the steps with a sponsor and sanity has returned. Thank God.

What is Sam-e?

I believe I might have fibro too and I really hope this is just a flare up for you that passes soon. I just got out of one that lasted a few months. I know i’d want to do anything to escape it, but alcohol always made it worse once I sobered up. That and eating bad. I hope in time your new healthier lifestyle rewards you with lessened symptoms

I totally understand....I have autoimmune disease and with the change of seasons I hurt. But I try to remember all the horrible side effects of drinking. It's tough.
