68 Days

Whew, it's been a ride the past 2+ months. But, overall it's been a really good one. Here's a few thoughts/items/whatevers since getting sober:

  • I found an amazing home group.

  • I'm on step 4 and working through a LOT of inventory. Turns out that storage room was a lot larger than I thought. :no_mouth:

  • I've made many new friends that are just as much of a garbage head as I am. And it's a beautiful thing.

  • I've been comfortable for the first time telling others "no", whether to alcohol or simply to events/get togethers that I just don't feel like being at (turns out it's pretty freeing)

  • A client of mine became my employer as of tomorrow morning. Coolest part - they know all about my story. It's a relationship built on honesty.

  • Though I consume cruise boat loads of ice cream, I've somehow lost 10 lbs.

  • I am up at 8:00am writing this, which would have NEVER been a possibility before.

  • I have faith. Faith in people. Faith in a better future. Faith that the universe has my back. Faith that one day, some God may intervene and make the ATL Falcons not suck again.

  • For the first time ever, I know why I drank. I know what I was running from this whole time. Alcohol was simply my horsesh!t solution to my real problem. I can now address the real conundrum upstairs :brain:.

  • God is a good cup of coffee.

Hope you all have an amazing rest of your Labor Day weekend.

“I’ve been comfortable for the first time saying…..”
I know that feeling too. Clarity makes you feel so powerful. Your judgement is no longer impaired and there is genuine creditability in your actions.

I love your list! Congratulations on 2+ months, it really seems like you’re doing great! I really would like to know your secret for eating large amounts of ice cream and not gaining any weight, though. Or wait, actually LOSING weight, haha. Geez, what’s your secret!!

Thank you all for your kind words and support. It's a community of other letting you know you're not alone that makes this journey doable. I am learning that recovery is a team sport. :pray:t2:
