7 months

Last month was 6 months, I felt great and everything seemed to be falling into place. Today, my sister and I were laying down, ready for bed when she checked me. Sometimes when you're on that high, you feel so sure about yourself and your choices. Today, she made me realize I lost sight of where my focus should to be. "If it doesn't add value in your life, why keep it? - sister.

Takeaway: not everyone who comes into your life is meant to stay, but more so there to simply experience and learn from. Nurture your heart, yourself and the relationships that positively influence in your life.

TY :relieved:
... Fortunately, this isn't involving family members. Sometimes naïvety gets the best of me creating this vulnerability and glaze over my accomplishments. Reminder to myself to continue practicing humility during these high times... as when my lows hit, they hit hard.

Congrats on 7 months. I know what you're going through. I just had to cut someone out of my life that was dragging me down. I was too naive to see it for a for months...

You are allowed to grow and change. It’s your journey, and you know what is right for you. You can only hold space for a loved one for so long. Ultimately, you come to realize that they have made their choice to not join the path of recovery. Stay strong and true to yourself :peace_symbol:❤‍🩹

Did you get that off one of those inspirational calendars or a sweater at Target?

Sometimes it's really hard to see when something isn't adding positively to your life. In therapy I started learning about healthy boundaries, and realized that I overextended myself way too much in my relationships. Dialing back from that is very hard for me, but I am doing it.

I started to notice that like 4 months into my sobriety, assuming everyone was genuine and coming from a good place. But found out it makes no difference if they are sober or not, just opened my heart and let people in too soon. I lost sight of that, keeping me on that high period for a while. Over sime time, realized that some people are just out for their own gain. But boy this one kinda hurt- cost me what could have been a new pair of shoes and a couple wrinkles. Flattery at its finest in the form of a boy  - big question is, how low should I go, since I hit that low?

Meh, people suck, sober or not. But when we are sober, hopefully we can navigate around the scumbags better. Don't give up your healthy boundaries.

boundaries at bay. :+1:
