I'm battling major depressive disorder and PTSD. I feel like giving in. I feel unworthy of happiness, I feel I don't deserve contentment, I talked to my sponsor today I'm on my way to work and I'm trying not to drink after work. Wish me luck
Scott, I’ve been there and what helped me was a suggestion to call other alcoholics with less time than me and ask them how they were doing and to be quiet and listen. It helped me get out of my head and my almost always primary focus, my focus on myself. After even the first phone call, I felt better because I was thinking about others and had an actual purpose, not just focusing on my problems which I had more of at three/four months sober, like tons of problems that I constantly focused on, just a suggestion man. Hang in there man, I survived a lot of stuff in sobriety and that is cause my mind always made it worse than it really was. A lot of the stuff I was so wort about happening never happened at all. It’s a change of perspective too, like you have a job and finding gratitude in that and what you do have might help too. It’s a scary place to be, but there are some tools that might help. Keep your head up
