I celebrated 8 months of sobriety 2 days ago! It’s hard to believe I’ve made it this far. This is the longest I have ever been sober. There are times that it is hard that I wish I could just enjoy a drink socially. I know what path that would lead me down though. Most of the time I still feel lost and like I don’t really fit in society. I don’t really have any friends. I’m just going to keep taking it one day at a time and hopefully each day it gets easier.
I've felt that way all my life, that's part of why I drink. Makes me feel less of an alien. Congrats on your sobriety, keep it up!
Thank you
that’s part of why I drank too. It helped me relax enough to actually talk to people. Now I’m just a big bundle of awkwardness lol
That's okay. Me too. Still. I go to a lot more discussion meetings now and push myself to open up. No matter how weird we feel, there are people out here that are so much weirder. And guess what? It's okay to be weird. I mean, do you wanna be like everyone else? We just have to work a little harder to like ourselves.
Yeah I’m working on that. It’s always been hard for me to open up. I’ve been to a few meetings. Just still trying to discover what works for me and trying to find myself again
Nice! Congratulations
Thank you
Nice job keep going
Congratulations first of all! I understand about the social thing. It’s why I started drinking (because I was shy). Really it just makes us act retarded. The drunk people will never be like ‘remember the sober girl who wasn’t talkative’? They’re too busy being drunk (which is so annoying when you’re sober). It’s like ‘is that what I’m like when I drink’?
