Just keep remembering how hard it was in the beginning and how good you feel now. Keep moving forward.
Exercise is my key. Meetings and all that, of course, but exercise is vital to my recovery and my happiness.
The benefits of recovery are most evident right away. You’ll begin to feel better, financially things may get better through less work missed and increased energy and productivity. Family relations improve.
Long term is sometimes tricky. After you feel better, sometimes it’s easy to want to slip back into old habits again. You think “I can handle it” and are tempted to go back to using again. This is when you need to possibly reach out for support and help from counseling, a program or support group. Using this app is a good step.
Taking it one day at a time. All you have to do is stay sober just for today.
Meetings meetings meetings. Understanding that my body knows what it needs to heal - for me I slept a lot more. And emotional upheaval, seemingly random. Sudden depression, crying, etc. But these things level out. Just don't pick up
Real desire , to not want to drink and return to my old way of life.
praying rests the weary!
Prayer will change the night to day.

Play the tape. From use to falling in a hopeless powerless compulsive abyss... it always ends in the same way.
The minute your addiction starts telling you just one...or whatever antics it trys to use...play the tape.
7 years later my addiction still tries, but I am wise to him now. I just laugh at his attempts to thwart me. Play the tape and carry on.
Going to regular meetings, getting numbers, and staying connected!!
For me the only thing that ever worked Was taking the 12 steps with a sponsor

Going to meetings, having my mom around, leaving my ID and money at home so I can't get alcohol, talking with a sponsor for some perspective, getting honest with my family members and my healthcare and mental health providers, inpatient and outpatient programs, medications as prescribed, eating right, normal sleep schedule, going to work every day, being single!
