So, I made a friend here (or I thought I did), and we have been chatting for a few days. Not much, but good conversations, about sobriety, life, a bit of movies, and general stuff.
Then I was asked for some help, meaning money. I feel upset and disappointed, as scammers are everywhere these days. I am grateful that I didn't feel too bad afterall. I feel upset with that person, as trying to scam in this community is really miserable.

Yeah unfortunately they have no shame, sorry you had to deal with that.

Been through that too. If they talk about money or how much they look forward to the rest of your lives together in the first week...run! Scammers think we're vulnerable. We are strong!

Thank you! Maybe that's part of our journey. No weaknesses, ever! And yes, nobody can be stronger than people willing to stay sober. Actually, I feel pretty good, not upset.

Scammers play the long game these days.
Scammers suck, and sometimes it’s as bad with people you know. My first sponsor passed. I reconnected with his son, who I knew as a baby. Wasn’t long after chatting a bit that he hit me up for money. I didn’t do it, but come to find out he’s an addict and a gambler. Over the course of a year, he tried 6 times. I finally blasted him & said it’d be nice to hear from him one day, without the money request
