A home of my own

I’m grateful for my apartment. I didn’t get out of mommy’s house until I was 42 (she’s my biggest enabler) and now at 45 I’m on my second place and I think I found my forever home. It’s my safe space, my home gym, home office, it’s my media room, my meditation room, and my quarantine kitchen. It’s the first time I’m on the lease without rich daddy to stand as guarantor. It’s financial independence and glorious freedom.

I’m in this place nearly a year and it’s finally starting to feel like home.

This gives me hope! Recently had to move back in with my folks with my two little ones. Been struggling with embarrassment and shame for “not having my life together” at 39. I’m trying more to be grateful for the help that I’m getting instead of what I don’t have.

You have two beautiful children. I still don’t feel ready for motherhood, I’m still cleaning up the wreckage of the past.

Yeah buddy

Cara, congratulations!!

Chrissy-I love what you wrote about being grateful for
what you have. These are not empty words from me.

I am 49 and at my family s place, post a break up and having to start over in life. Again. For the umpteenth time, feels as if. I started a new job in April. Pay is low while grateful. Not gonna complain about that paycheck, no way.

Just this morning, I told my mother: look. I am doing the best that I can do within this present moment. I have to take baby steps. She said: well. It’s happening too slowly.

Yes. It hurt because a bit over six months ago, I woke up feeling worthless for the trillionth morning in a row, post drinking…and that I might be better off not being on this planet.

Point to my rambling-not going to be letting others , be so my parents, anyone diminish the strength it takes to make and sustain the decisions to lead a sober life.
Again, congratulations to you Cara and Chrissy, a day does not go by where I do not deal with feeling like an utter failure for being back here while the fact that I am alive period is pretty much a miracle in and of itself? Thanks for letting me ramble, y’all. Day ( not sure ) - while mid August will be seven months. We should be proud of ourselves for being brave enough to take this path because we are worth it. Ok. Now I just sound like that L’Oreal commercial-“‘cause we’re worth it “!
