I’m an alcoholic with 6 months and 23 days sober. I have court this afternoon for DWI. I’m having some anxiety about it. I’m just praying for the best possible outcome.
No matter what the outcome... don't use. I will be praying for you as well.
I hope it all goes in your favor… just remember to breath. At this point it is life on life’s terms. Deal with the consequences and don’t pick up! Good luck my man.
One thing I learned about anxiety… my mind always assumes the worst is going to happen. This just feeds my fears and anxiety. 90% of the time things turn out better than expected or just fine. Regardless, we have no control over the outcome of these situations. Do some stress reducing breathing exercises, and keep reminding yourself that you will be ok.
That’s all you can do and if they know you’re in recovery and you are working the program they will be lient on you. Matthew 6:27 says which of you by worrying can add one single day to his life?
Praying for you…. No matter the outcome, don’t let it ruin your six months sobriety. Please keep us posted.
You got this ! Just don’t pick up!
Everything ok any update 🫶🏾
You are not alone
I definitely understand the anxiety and I finally for the most have tamed mine. We can't foresee the future, therefore it really is useless to guess what will happen. Unfortunately for most of us, we only think of the negative and not the positive. Try to push back the negative and live for the present day...it's a tough to get use to it, but life as we all know can really be a bummer, at times. Stay strong, safe, and sober..Best wishes!
Update: as this was my second dwi within 10 years, third in my lifetime, I was facing 1 year in jail followed by 5 years probation or 2-4 years in prison if I went to trial and lost. Since I have been in outpatient treatment, attending AA, and have been wearing a SCRAM bracelet since June, the court and my lawyers got me into drug treatment court. Which is a year of supervision by the drug court, finish treatment, continue AA, and a 12 month license suspension, and in return my felony gets reduced to a misdemeanor. As long as I remain in AA and sober I’ll be fine. The anxiety is still real but I am still patting myself on my back because I am taking my treatment and sobriety seriously and the DA and judge recognized that. This outcome will take some work but it is much better than what I could of been.
That’s a lot and definitely happy of the outcome whatever it takes for it to be better I would be ok with that too
