A new poem
Titled "Alone"
The shelves are bare, the plastic drawers are clear,The ticking clock is all the sound I hear.I reached for help, but every steeple sighed; The church doors locked, their silent phones denied. The water's off, the pipes have run completely dry,The final notice says it's time to say goodbye—This home is lost, the eviction letter stands,A cold decree within my trembling hands. The phone is dead, no names upon the screen,The cruelest silence that I’ve ever seen. The world moves on outside my frosted pane,While I am left to wither in the rain.If I should vanish, no one looks around; My missing voice would make no sudden sound. Why keep the pace? Why force the heart to beat? When every path leads back to this defeat.A ghost who breathes, a shadow on the floor,With nothing left to lose or bargain for.Yet in this zero, stripped of all disguise,A strange, ferocious power starts to rise. When no one cares, then no one holds the chain; There is no expectations left to stain. The bottom of the well is solid ground,Where absolute, untethered truth is found.I am the one who feeds this dying spark,And I will guide myself out of the dark.
