A sober Christmas Eve…

Days like these where feelings of sadness & loneliness are exasperated by the holidays, I am reminded of my “why” to drink: to lift my mood, disconnect from my fears & control physical & emotional pain. As I move forward, the best thing I can do is to not be hard to myself. It makes complete sense why I would self medicate this way- my nervous system is firing for relief. Yes, my mood is super low. Yes, I’m working through pain & anxiety. & also yes, I’m sober, which is a badass accomplishment to own. Even if it’s not a “merry” or “happy” holiday season, I’m thankful it’s a sober one because I know I I feel so much worse if it wasn’t. Sober cheers to you all :sparkles:

Merry Christmas Kandi! I wish you some peace this holiday season. Give yourself the gift of forgiveness. I hear lots of strength in your message. Continue to walk thru the pain. It does get better!
