A thought that helps when my brain tries to convince me I can moderate alcohol

Even if I somehow managed to drink only 2 days a month, the other 28 days would still be ruined with obsessive thoughts about how enhanced and “fun” alcohol would make them. It would still have control over me even on the sober days.

Yes ... any crack in the door of booze and it will dominate your thoughts . Not drinking is actually less stressful for me than trying to “moderate. “

YES! someone said in a meeting this morning “even if i didn’t drink 85% of the time, the other 15% is a total shit show”. i know for me, being totally alcohol free takes away the choice to drink. and that frees up my mind for so much f
joy and goodness

Go all the way.and :stop_sign:some times we need a sign .

Half measures never work. This disease is progressive.

It takes less thinking when you just eliminate the alcohol. Then you can put that brain power to use in discovering what you enjoy doing with the time that used to be taken up by drinking!

Well said

It’s funny. My first year of trying to stay sober had a handful of relapses. I counted my sober and drunk days (because I fucking count EVERYTHING lol). Bottom line it was exactly that about 85% sober and the other 15% a complete shit show. lol
