My new sponsor is working with me on the 4th step, and we are using the 7 deady sins as the basis for moral inventory.
The 7 deadly sins are lust, gluttony, pride, sloth, wrath, envy, and greed.
While researching their definitions, I discovered they are nouns. Which makes them things.
This will make it easier come time to ask god to clean house because if they are things, and not character traits of mine, I feel less attached to them as "self."
I've been struggling with the fear of losing my sense of self because I've experienced a lot of disturbance and interference as I rediscover and create myself along the way.
Reminding myself these deadly sins are not ME, they are not self, but simply things that can be removed from me.
When I feel one or many of these deadly sins, I can quickly and easily identify it as what it is. Then I can reconnect to my true self, deeply connected to god, to reestablish harmony with the universe.
God to me is all that is good in the universe. If it's not good, then it's not god. When i am good, then god and I are one.
