AA works

35 years ago today my family did an intervention and suggested I go to rehab. I went reluctantly, and stayed over for one night. Went home the next day, as I wasn’t as bad as some of the freaks in that place. That night I was on a hotline with some stranger. I asked him if he thought I had a problem. His response was priceless. He said, I can’t tell you if you do or don’t, but what if you do? I had to wait 3 days for the bed I gave up to be available again. Went back & spent 46 days learning about myself and my addiction. Those six weeks put me on a path to recovery that I remain on to this day. God willing, when I open my eyes tomorrow…we will celebrate 35 continuous years clean & sober. If you’ve read this, you’re part of the we- and I’m grateful for you. Thank you for all you’ve done to help me.

When I began my journey, I would look at the people that had 1 year in awe.. as if I was looking at unicorns! 3 1/2 years later, I still take it just one day at a time!
Sooo proud of you my friend! Please keep sharing your story! You never know who may need to hear it!
