Addiction is Addiction, does the preferred poison matter!

I like the features of the app, but it is so focused on alcohol that I have been thinking about deleting it.

The root of addiction is avoidance of circumstances or feelings.

My poison is crack and sexual addiction. I haven’t found and apps that focus on that. It would be nice if this app had different options that allow people to join groups specific to there needs, or a mixed group that supports each other regardless of the addiction.

I like this app and reading about everybody stories, I’m recovering from meth. I can relate to a lot stories one way or another. Good luck. Try to find some meetings to get involved in.

There are just more people speaking up reagrding alcohol. If you don't like it, be the change you want. For instance, I don't like the constant god pushing in AA/NA. So instead of complaining about it, I put myself out here, to anyone else trying to get clean/sober without god, and make it well known that I am godless, and that you don't need that to be clean/sober.

I will say this regarding sexual addictions: the last fella here that said he had those kind of addictions was constantly acting creepy towards the women here, strange comments etc. Be cool, and don't feel like an outsider. I think all addictions are welcome, and maybe there are more with the same addictions, but are afraid to speak up. Raise your flag and see.

Alcohol is not my DOC, but I get a lot of mileage from this app. As you said…addiction is addiction, and the roots are similar for all of us. You are no different than anyone else here, so I don’t see why you would have a problem relating to others. Say what you want to say. There are plenty of others on here that share your DOC’s. Perhaps your shares will connect you with a subgroup of friends that you can chat with regarding your particular issues

Yea I'm a drinker but I Medicate to live and function. It's kinda of like you are an alcoholic but go to NA meetings because you get better support. Nothing wrong with it
