We played a true or false game in SU group yesterday. How enlightening! It is easy to believe things as facts if it all you have heard your entire life. Myths. Addiction is a willpower issue. Set your brain straight and know that science substantiates that addiction is not a will power issue. There are many factors and one is the actual brain. There are many myths about addiction that we have been taught to be facts. What a great class yesterday. Our member who came really opened up about her addiction and the addiction of her son. He passed away 7 years ago. Murdered over drugs. SU Group---It was such a great place to be! Today I am grateful I was able to serve on my role ad CPRS and listen!
I am grateful today is another night for BIP virtual group in Orange Co, FL! I present tonight and I am looking forward to having this opportunity!
I am grateful today for feeling better and better each day from this delightful summer cold.
I am grateful that Shiloh slept most of the night and woke me up to go outside! She even let me touch her chin this morning!!! Baby steps is still progress!
I am grateful today is a brand new day and another to be sober!
I am grateful for great conversation with my bestie!
Today. Strong. Sober. Grateful!
I'm not quite understanding what you're saying. I'm not even sure what a SU group is. Is this sounds really confusing what you're saying. I can only refer you to the doctor's opinion of the big book.
The topicnof the Substance Use group Inteach was on myths. There is a myth that addiction is nothing more than a battle of willpower. I hope this clarifies any misunderstanding.
I would also recommend that you watch the movie pleasure unwoven by Dr. Kevin McCullough which proves the disease of addiction. The dysfunctional organ in our body is the mind
I don't understand why this needs to be proven?
I'm like a disease of the mind is still a disease. It doesn't make it less deadly because of the mind. When you talk about needing nothing more than willpower. Will power is a state of being. Willingness is the action of willpower. And that's already been discussed in the doctor's opinion.
This is NOT an argument. I am stating myths. I agree with you. I apologize if my post has confused you on anything. I am not saying anything about agreeing with the myth that addiction is a willpower issue.
Okay no worries I was just confused.
It's a mind problem not a brain problem.. People are always looking for an easier softer way not to take accountability...
We don't have a Disease of the mind we suffer from dis-ease of the mind caused by our thinking....
It has to do with the power of choice.. We lose it once we become addicted to and dependant on addictive drugs . We regain our power of choice after we recover and find a new solution for the dis-eases of life...
The mind isn't an organ..
People want to believe they have a Disease that justifies their sick behaviors..
Well welcome to the club can we some sick folks. I'm changing my behavior by any means necessary because I refuse to go back to where I was. #if it ain't broke I'm not fixing it.
I feel like is a spiritual sickness we suffer from
